High Risk Payment Gateway India for Betting, Casino, Forex and Digital Merchants

A high risk payment gateway India merchants can rely on has to work with the rails Indian customers already use. BestPay24 provides UPI and IMPS collection, bank transfer payouts and INR settlement for betting, casino, forex and digital merchants, with live support around the clock.

If you run a betting site, an online casino, a forex or CFD brokerage, a dating service or a digital goods store, you already know how hard it is to get paid by Indian customers. Mainstream gateways decline the category, international card acquirers deliver weak approval rates, and bank accounts used for deposits get frozen once volume becomes visible. This page explains how a high risk payment gateway India setup works in practice, which methods it covers and what to prepare before you start.

Who this is for

The service is built for merchants whose business is legal in the markets where they operate and licensed where a licence is required, but who are still treated as high risk by banks and card schemes. It suits both established operators and new brands that want to enter India with local payment methods from day one.

  • Betting and sportsbook operators serving Indian players
  • Online casino and iGaming brands
  • Forex and CFD brokers that accept deposits from Indian clients
  • Dating, adult and subscription services
  • Digital goods and virtual item stores

You stay responsible for holding the licences and approvals your business needs. We process payments for regulated and unregulated-market operators on the basis of their own compliance position, and we do not advise on how to avoid the law of any country.

Supported methods

India is a local rails market. Most retail digital payments happen through UPI, and larger amounts move through bank transfers. The methods available for Indian traffic are listed below.

  • UPI, including payments from PhonePe, Google Pay and Paytm
  • IMPS bank transfer
  • NEFT bank transfer
  • IMPS payouts to customer bank accounts

All collection and payouts run in INR. The currency and schedule of your own settlement are agreed in your offer.

UPI payment gateway for high risk merchants: what changes

UPI is a push payment. The customer opens a payment app, confirms the request with a PIN and the money moves from their bank account straight away. There is no card number to enter, no issuer risk engine deciding whether to let a gambling transaction through, and no card scheme monitoring your descriptor.

For a merchant this changes three things. Approval depends on the customer completing the request rather than on a bank rule. Confirmation is near instant, so the player can start playing or trading without waiting. And because the customer authorises the payment in their own app, the chargeback mechanism that card schemes use to penalise high risk descriptors does not apply in the same way.

Our article on why card acquiring fails for high risk merchants in India describes the card side of the problem in more detail.

How it works: payin, payout and settlement

A typical flow has three parts. They are connected through one API, so your team integrates once and gets every method.

  • Payin. Your platform creates a payment request, the customer pays by UPI or bank transfer, and you receive a status update as soon as the payment is confirmed.
  • Payout. When a customer withdraws, your platform sends a payout request and the funds are sent to the customer bank account through IMPS.
  • Settlement. Collected funds are reconciled and settled to you on the schedule and in the currency written into your offer.

Each deposit can be matched to a customer and each payout to a request, which keeps your reconciliation and your own risk reviews simple.

IMPS payout API India: paying customers quickly

Withdrawals decide whether players and clients come back. A slow or failed withdrawal creates support tickets and drives people to competitors. IMPS works around the clock and normally credits the receiving bank account within minutes, which is why it is the default payout method for Indian traffic.

Through the payout API you can send single payouts or process batches, track the status of each request and handle failed transfers with clear reasons. Your support team gets the information it needs to answer a customer without escalating to us.

Integration

You can integrate in the way that fits your team. All options sit on the same account, so you can start with one and add another later.

  • API integration with sandbox credentials, documentation and a technical contact
  • Hosted checkout for merchants who prefer not to build a payment page
  • Plugins for common platforms, where available for your stack

Compliance and risk

A provider that is serious about high risk verticals checks its merchants carefully, because that protects both sides. Expect a standard KYB process: company registration, director identification, website review and a description of your business and traffic.

Volume limits and transaction limits are set per merchant during onboarding and reviewed as your traffic grows. We apply AML controls to the flow of funds, and you are expected to run KYC on your own customers according to the rules of the markets you serve. Our casino and iGaming page describes how we handle that vertical.

Why local rails beat workarounds

Some merchants try to route Indian traffic through foreign card acquiring under a different merchant category. That approach looks cheap at the start and tends to end with a frozen balance. A gateway that is approved for your category from the beginning, and that settles through local rails, gives you a stable base for growth. You can plan marketing spend and payout liquidity without worrying that the processor will change its mind next quarter.

Frequently asked questions

What is a high risk payment gateway in India?

It is a payment provider that is approved to process transactions for verticals that mainstream gateways and card acquirers decline or restrict, such as betting, casino, forex and CFD, dating and digital goods. In India it works mainly through local rails like UPI, IMPS and bank transfer rather than international cards.

Which payment methods can my customers use?

Indian customers can pay with UPI through apps such as PhonePe, Google Pay and Paytm, and with IMPS or NEFT bank transfer from their own banking app. Payouts to customers are sent to bank accounts through IMPS.

Can I use the gateway if my company is registered outside India?

Yes. Many merchants we work with are registered outside India and serve Indian customers. Collection and payouts run in INR on local rails, and the settlement currency and schedule are agreed in your offer.

How long does onboarding take?

You send standard merchant documents: company registration, director ID, website and a business description. Most merchants are approved within a few business days, and sandbox access is provided so your team can integrate in parallel.

How do I find out about pricing?

Pricing is shared in a personal offer. Message our sales team on Telegram at @Bestpay24SalesSupport with your vertical, target countries and expected monthly volume.
